Turkey Challenge 2008

Each year the San Jose Police Department has what we call our “Turkey Challenge.” The police family generously contributes money, turkeys, food and toys to needy families in the City of San Jose. This happens during Christmas time and we have done this for 17 years. Last year we decided to help our military families have a merry Christmas. The police family gave over $25,000.00 to the military families and families who have kids with cancer.

The 2008 Turkey Challenge is beginning. This year our goal is four fold:

  1. First to send a care package once a month to all military personnel who are connected to SJPD until they return to the states. At this time we have six going and each package costs $50.00 per month. We do this with the support of Operation: Care and Comfort.
  2. The second item is to give a $50.00 food gift card and a $50.00 Target card to 100 military families.
  3. Thirdly, we want to collect toys to give to military families.
  4. Fourthly, we want to give a gift card to each of the families connected to Cops Care Cancer Foundation.

So we need your help, let Chaplain Jim and I say in advance, THANK YOU!!! Chaplain Dave Bridgen
